Everything You Need to Know

Skylum has announced the big 2025 fall upgrade for Luminar Neo, packed with amazing new features and improvements.

In this article, I’ll tell you what to expect and how to get it, depending on whether you’re a new user, have a perpetual license, or have a subscription.

Keep reading to find out all the news and hopefully get answers to any questions you might have.

What’s New in the 2025 Luminar Neo Fall Update?

The 2025 Luminar Neo fall update comes with many improvements and exciting new features.

Neo now supports a wider range of the latest cameras, runs up to 25% faster when batch editing (including with some top AI tools), and offers a smoother onboarding experience for new users.

However, it’s the new features that are stealing the spotlight—let me tell you a little bit about them.

Light Depth

Light Depth is a new feature that creates a depth map so you can relight your image. If you liked the Relight AI tool, you’re going to love Light Depth.

Using this tool, you can transform a flat picture into a cinematic work with volume and depth.

Cross-Device Editing

A software interface displays a pop-up guide for starting photo edits on mobile and continuing on desktop, with photo thumbnails and a "Learn more" link visible.

Not too long ago, I wrote about the new Luminar mobile app and how much I loved it. The only thing missing was the ability to sync with Luminar Desktop. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one hoping for this to change.

Well, great news – this is now a reality! With the 2025 fall upgrade, Skylum is releasing the new Luminar Ecosystem, which allows you to easily sync your work across devices.

Whether you’re editing a photo on your phone and want to finish it on your computer, or vice versa, this feature lets you work more efficiently, even when you’re on the go.

Online Sharing Space

With Luminar, you’ll now be able to create beautiful online galleries that can be shared via a link.

Whether you need a professional-looking portfolio to share with a client or a clean, easy-to-access gallery to send to your friends and family, Spaces provides a great alternative.

A grid gallery of landscape photographs, including mountains, lakes, hot air balloons, forests, fields, and colorful natural scenery, displayed on a website titled "Landscape Photography.

You can create new Spaces with just a click and share them with anyone you like – only people with the link can access them.

Photo Restoration

This AI-powered restoration tool can bring new life to any old or damaged picture in your archive.

Not only can you fix the scratches, flares and other issues caused by time, but you can also colorize an originally monochrome photo.

AI Assistant

This tool is not yet available, and it won’t arrive with the November release – so, I don’t have many details to share just yet.

However, I can tell you that this feature will analyze your photo and suggest the best edits. So, instead of using a fully automated AI tool, it will provide smart guidance, letting you leverage AI while keeping control of your editing process.

The AI assistant is set to be released later this year.

I know you’re probably eager to see all these new features, and I’ll be doing dedicated articles for each of them. To try them out yourself, you need to have a Luminar license or membership.

The official release of the Luminar Neo fall upgrade 2025 will be in early November—we don’t have a specific date just yet. However, you can already buy Luminar Neo if you don’t have it, or buy the upgrade if you have a perpetual license.

Why would you want to buy it now if the fall upgrade hasn’t been officially released?

Well, because Skylum is currently having the biggest sale of the year. The Black Friday sale gives you up to 77% off for new users, up to 50% off for Neo owners upgrading, and up to 82% off for Legacy users.

Once you have Luminar Neo, if you bought it after June 1st, you’ll receive the upgrade as soon as it’s released at no extra charge.

And don’t worry, because Skylum offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

To sum up…

New users – You can choose between a Cross-device license, a Max license, or a Desktop license. The latter doesn’t include Luminar Mobile or the Ecosystem.

All licenses include 1 year of generative AI tools. However, the Max License is the best option because on top of everything you’d get with the Cross-device license, you’ll also get access to the Creative Library.

All licenses have up to a 77% discount during the Black Friday deal.

Lifetime license holders (purchased after June 1st, 2025) – You’ll receive the fall upgrade for free. If you have the Cross-device license or the Max license, the Ecosystem is included.

Lifetime license holders (purchased before June 1st, 2025) – To receive the 2025 fall upgrade and 2026 spring update, you need to buy an Upgrade Pass or an Ecosystem pass. This will also give you access to the generative tools until December 31st, 2026. If you buy it during the Black Friday sale, you’ll get up to a 50% discount.

Legacy users – You can upgrade to the Cross-device perpetual license or the Max perpetual license. During the Black Friday sale, you have up to an 82% discount.

Subscription holders – If you have an active subscription, you can get the upgrade at no extra cost. Make sure your subscription has auto-renewal enabled; otherwise, you won’t be able to get a new subscription, as Skylum has returned to selling only perpetual licenses.
